Do I need a valid driver’s license to rent a trailer?

Yes. We require a valid Texas driver’s license. If your license is expired, suspended, or from a state/country we cannot verify, you will not be able to rent.

Do I need insurance to rent a trailer?

Usually, yes—your auto policy follows your tow vehicle. In most cases, the liability coverage on the vehicle you use to tow will extend to the trailer and cover damage or injuries you cause to others while towing. Coverage varies by insurer, so it’s smart to confirm with your agent.

No insurance or want higher limits?

You can add Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) at checkout for $25/day. SLI provides additional third-party liability protection above state minimums.

What if my vehicle isn’t equipped to tow?

You need a vehicle with appropriate towing capacity and the correct hitch setup to rent from us. If your vehicle does not meet the necessary requirements, we cannot release the trailer to you.

Do I need a credit card?

Yes. We require a valid credit card or debit card on file for the deposit, even if you plan to pay the balance in cash at pickup. If you cannot provide this, we cannot rent to you.

What if I fail the inspection at pickup?

If our team finds that your vehicle or towing setup is not safe or compatible at pickup, we reserve the right to withhold the trailer until you can meet the towing requirements.

Do your rent trailer/equipment by the hour?

At Cowboy Trailers and Equipment, our minimum rental period is one day, which translates to a full 24 hours. We do not offer hourly rentals at this time. If you pick up a trailer at 5 AM, for example, you can return it any time up to 5 AM the following day under the one-day rate.
